Questions & answers
Will a sheer curtain give me privacy at night?
Not reliably. Privacy depends on the fabric and the relative light levels inside and outside. A separate opaque treatment is usually needed where evening privacy matters. Review a hanging sample with the room lit after dark.
Does blockout fabric make a room completely dark?
The cloth blocks light through its face, but light can still enter around the edges, above the treatment or at a centre join. Track position, returns, overlap and fitting position affect the finished result. Discuss the required darkness before choosing the fabric.
How do I decide between a Roman and a roller blind?
A Roman is a constructed textile treatment with visible folds and a raised stack. A roller wraps around a tube and needs a fabric designed to track evenly. Compare texture and pattern, the space above the window, cleaning, control and the amount of glass each covers when open.
Can you reuse my existing track?
Possibly, after its condition, fixing, capacity and compatibility have been assessed. A heavier lining or different heading can change the load and operating requirements. Reusing a track should be a specification decision, not an assumption.
How much fullness should I choose?
Fullness is the relationship between fabric width and finished treatment width. The right amount depends on the heading, fabric body, pattern and desired stack. There is no single multiplier that makes every cloth look better; review the heading and fabric together.
Can I use the same fabric for curtains and Romans?
Sometimes. A fabric that hangs well as a curtain may behave differently when supported horizontally and repeatedly folded. Confirm the fabric’s suitability, lining, joins and pattern placement for both constructions before approving a coordinated scheme.
What should I prepare for a consultation?
Your suburb, room photographs, approximate opening sizes, the main privacy or light problem, and any plans for flooring, ceilings or electrical work. Final manufacturing measurements are verified separately.
How long will the project take?
Timing depends on the selected fabrics, hardware, making requirements and site readiness. Ask for the project-specific programme with the quotation, including any items that remain provisional.
How should I clean the finished treatment?
Follow the care instructions supplied for the exact fabric and construction. Linings, interlinings, coatings and trims can require different treatment from the face cloth. Do not assume every curtain or Roman can be washed or steamed.
