Daytime softness with greater privacy and room darkening at night.
Double Curtains · Sydney
Pairing a sheer curtain with a blockout layer gives the window two very different ways to work — soft filtered light during the day, and greater privacy and light control when needed.
Designed, made and professionally installed by CCBD in Sydney since 2003.

Two layers · Two purposes
The two fabrics do not need to match. They need to work together in colour, weight, movement and proportion.

Room to move
A double curtain needs more than two fabrics. Track projection, fabric fullness, stack-back, door handles and the space between each layer all affect how naturally the curtains move and sit.
CCBD considers these details before the curtains are made — particularly around sliding doors, large glazing and ceiling-mounted tracks.
Fabric & lining
The sheer sets the daylight character; the second layer changes the room when greater privacy or darkness is needed. We look at the colour relationship in both positions, not only with the curtains closed. Texture and transparency influence how the sheer reads against the lined fabric behind it.
Face-fabric weight, lining and drape then guide the heading and fullness. Two samples that look harmonious on a table may create an unexpectedly bulky stack at the window. We review how much space each layer occupies, how the folds fall and whether both curtains can move without disturbing the other. The finished pair should feel composed in daylight, in evening light and when fully open.
We select the layers for how they behave together at the window — not simply how two samples look beside each other.

Different rooms · Different routines

Daytime softness with greater privacy and room darkening at night.
Control changing light without losing the softness of fabric.
Layer privacy and light control across large glazing, with enough stack-back to keep the door usable.
Useful where outlook, privacy and changing daylight need to coexist.
Before you decide
They need independent operating paths. A suitable double-track system or two separately positioned tracks allow each layer to move without pulling the other. Projection, fixing and available stack space determine the arrangement.
Yes, where both fabrics and the selected track systems suit that heading. The wave depth, fullness and separation must allow the two curtains to move independently; using the same heading does not mean using the same specification for both cloths.
There is no single allowance for every window. Track projection, wave depth, fabric and lining thickness, handles and the open stacks all contribute. We assess the complete arrangement before final measurement and making.
