There is no single best curtain motor for every Sydney window. Somfy is one established option with curtain-specific systems and control pathways, but another proven model may be better value for a simpler opening. Compare the exact proposed motors against the same finished curtain and control brief.

Compare applications before brand names.
The motor must suit curtain weight, track span, opening direction and operating frequency. Only after those are known does a comparison of noise, smooth starting and stopping, power options, controls and warranty become meaningful.
Somfy Australia publishes curtain-selection questions and a range of wired and WireFree approaches. Those documents demonstrate why a model-specific decision matters; they do not establish that every Somfy system fits every curtain.

What can justify a premium ecosystem?
A client may value established controls, compatible integration pathways, professional support and a clear replacement route. If the project has multiple rooms or a defined smart-home system, the control ecosystem can matter as much as the motor itself.
For one uncomplicated window operated by a remote, a simpler well-supported system may provide stronger total value. A premium label alone does not compensate for the wrong load rating, inaccessible motor or poor track installation.

Ask for an equal-basis comparison.
Request the exact motor and track models, power source, control technology, integration equipment, written warranty, installation scope and future servicing arrangement. Compare the same completed curtain, not one quote for a full system against another for a motor-only component.
Check smart-home compatibility on the current product documentation. A remote-controlled system is not automatically compatible with phone, voice or every home platform; a bridge or hub may be required.

What changes the recommendation?
CCBD should specify enough motorisation for the window and operating routine—not automatically the most elaborate system. If Somfy is proposed, the quotation should explain what the selected Somfy model contributes to this particular project.
